Charles Sharland: Chief Executive Officer

Charles Sharland Chairman and CEO

Charles is CEO and co-founder of AppSense and his broad vision continues to lead the company's culture of technical innovation and product competitiveness. Under his direction, AppSense has grown rapidly into an international company with best in class technology.

Prior to AppSense, Charles founded Vistorm, an information security and infrastructure services provider, growing it from a startup to a $50 million company over ten years. Vistorm was recently acquired by EDS. Before starting Vistorm, he spent 10 years with large technology companies such as HP and Sun Microsystems.

Darron Antill: Chief Operating Officer

Darron Antill Chief Operating Officer

As AppSense COO, Darron is responsible for developing the network of AppSense global operations, as well as expanding the company's North American business. A proven IT executive, Darron leads the US growth plan for the company; driving business direction, revenue growth, vendor alliances and channel expansion. Darron brings more than 20 years of technology sales and management experience to his role.

Prior to AppSense, Darron was CEO of leading Information Security Services company Vistorm, where he led the company to record revenues and oversaw the business through its acquisition by EDS and subsequent transition to HP. During his seven years at Vistorm, Darron was responsible for sales and services business, building strategic vendor relationships and developing strong channel alliances.

Prior to Vistorm, Darron was managing director of Ultima Business Solutions, a security services company, where he led the company to two consecutive record revenue years and achieved 20 percent growth year over year.

Gail Hazley: Financial Director

Gail Hazley ACMA Financial Director

Gail joined AppSense as finance director in September 2004 and is responsible for global financial reporting and controls. She has 17 years senior financial and management experience, the last 10 of which have been spent at IT companies.

Prior to joining AppSense, Gail worked for Vistorm for seven years, where she played a pivotal role in raising $40 million in funding from 3i, Credit Suisse First Boston and Granville Baird in 2000; one of the largest venture capital transactions in Europe that year.

Before joining Vistorm, Gail was finance director for Willan Building Services, a ground-breaking company which developed innovative, environmentally-friendly ventilation products. During her tenure there, Gail acquired two companies.

Gail holds a BA with honors in accounting and finance from Manchester University.

Tony Clarke: Vice President of Sales

Tony Clarke EMEA General Manager

Tony was appointed as vice president of global sales in early 2007 after he achieved great success as territory manager for Northern Europe. He ensures a strong sales culture and commitment throughout the AppSense commercial team.

Prior to joining AppSense, Tony spent eight years at Vistorm, an information security and infrastructure services provider, concluding as vice president of sales with $50 million revenue in 2002. At Vistorm, he was responsible for expanding the Managed Internet Security division and growing it into a major business operation.

Before beginning his career in IT services, Tony spent 10 years in engineering with companies such as Schlumberger Industries and Jeep, Inc.

Peter Rawlinson: Vice President of Worldwide Marketing

Peter Rawlinson Vice President of Worldwide Marketing

Peter is responsible for AppSense's global marketing activities including strategic direction, channel marketing programs, branding and communications. He works closely with key customers and partners of AppSense to ensure optimal market knowledge and messaging.

Peter has extensive experience in the IT sector having held senior-level positions in both the UK and the US. He co-founded electronic commerce company Intelisys, where he created and managed a global marketing team responsible for a $100 million product line and developed alliances with large corporations such as Microsoft, Citrix, IBM, Motorola and JPMorgan Chase among others.

With over 15 years of software marketing experience, Peter has successfully managed and marketed enterprise software solutions including Document Management with OpenText Inc (OTXT) and Contract Management with iMany (IMNY).

Peter holds a BSc with honors in physics from Sheffield University.

Simon Rust: Director of Technology

Simon Rust Vice President of Technology

As a founding member of the AppSense technology team, Simon leads the product and technology direction for the AppSense User Virtualization product lines. He is recognized within the industry as one of the leading technologists for desktop virtualization, application delivery and personality management.

This discipline enables him to successfully drive the personalization management strategy at AppSense.

Prior to joining AppSense in 2001, Simon spent eight years working with early Citrix technology as a technical architect in some of the largest companies across Northern Europe, specializing in the delivery and management of applications. Simon holds a BSc in computer science and is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and a Citrix Certified Administrator.

Jens Schmidt: Vice President of Sales DACH Region & Managing Director of AppSense GmbH

Jens Schmidt Vice President of Sales DACH Region & Managing Director of AppSense GmbH

Jens is responsible for all sales and operational activities for AppSense in the D/A/CH region, overseeing a team of commercial, technical and marketing resources throughout the territory.

Prior to this position, Jens held responsibility for AppSense's major accounts in Northern Germany – significantly increasing revenue and building strong relationships with Channel and Technology Partners in the region.

Jens has amassed an impressive track record over the past 20 years with direct focus in the IT Industry, managing the development of enterprise level solutions and focusing particularly on user experience. Prior to AppSense, Jens was responsible for the expansion and development of the Germany-based sales team at Messerknecht.

Herman Leunen: Vice President of Sales and Business Development Benelux Region

Herman Leunen Vice President of Sales and Business Development Benelux Region

Herman is responsible for all sales and operational activities for AppSense in the BeNeLux region, overseeing a team of commercial, marketing and technical throughout the territory.

Herman has a track record from more than 25 years in the IT industry with a strong focus on application delivery and datacenter technology.

Prior to joining AppSense in 2001, Herman spent two years at Vistorm, an information security and infrastructure services provider as managing consultant. Prior to that Herman spent 11 years as IT Manager for the European activities of Boral LTD.

Sean Walsh: Vice President of Sales and Business Development Australasia

Sean Walsh Vice President of Sales and Business Development Australasia

Sean is responsible for the development and management of sales and end user growth for AppSense within the Australia and New Zealand region. He also provides present and future guidance to the sales and technical teams. Over the past five years, Sean’s key achievements include a consistent growth in revenue, the channel and technical depth in the region. He continues to add to the AppSense sales team in order to build for future growth.

Sean has been working in the IT industry since 1997, starting in the UK head office of Cabletron, and has over 10 years channel/enterprise and sales management experience. Prior to joining AppSense, Sean was southern region channel manager for Citrix Systems and prior to that was national business development manager for Citrix at Express Data.

Sean holds a BA in information management and finance from the University of Westminster, London.
